White House believes Ukraine can take back lost ground

(MENAFN) The White House national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, stated on Sunday, that the United States believes that Ukraine’s long-planned counterattack against the Russian army is going to eventually give Kiev the chance to take back some lost regions.

Talking to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria, Sullivan was assured that Ukraine would take back “strategically significant territory.”

“Exactly how much, in what places, that will be up to developments on the ground as the Ukrainians get this counteroffensive underway,” the representative claimed. “But we believe that the Ukrainians will meet with success in this counteroffensive.”

Sullivan also said that the result of the procedure is going to have a “major impact” on upcoming discussions. Hours after Sullivan’s comments were published, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the Ukrainian forces had been unsuccessful in breaking through the defensive borders in Donbass, having to suffer huge losses. The MOD depicted the procedure as “a large-scale offensive.”
