(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Early Monday, Russia began a fresh round of airstrikes against Kyiv using drones and cruise missiles. According to the Ukrainian military administration, more than 40 targets were destroyed. According to officials, there were no significant damages or injuries in Kyiv after Russia's 15th airstrike on the city in May and the second consecutive overnight attack of comparable intensity.
“Another difficult night for the capital,” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging channel, Reuters reported.
The strike comes after the heaviest drone barrage fired on Kyiv the night before, resulting in one fatality and numerous injuries. Thirty-six drones were shot down over Kyiv during the attack on Sunday.
According to the city's military administration, Russia attacked on Monday using cruise missiles and drones built in Iran.
“With these constant attacks, the enemy seeks to keep the civilian population in deep psychological tension,” The military administration of the city's head, Serhiy Popko, stated on the Telegram messaging channel.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in February 2022 when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The US and the NATO allies support Ukraine against Russian invasion and provide military equipment and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainians.
While Russia has its allies, it reportedly said that China and Iran support Russia in continuing the war with Ukraine.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict reached a point in which the horizon hope for a ceasefire would not see shortly.
Earlier in March, President Putin said that what was at stake in Ukraine was Russia's very existence as a state.
“So for us, this is not a geopolitical task, but a task of the survival of Russian statehood, creating conditions for the future development of the country and our children,” Putin said.
