FM Shoukry Heads To Geneva To Discuss Boosting Cooperation With UN Bodies - Dailynewsegypt

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed to Geneva on Wednesday on a mission aimed at consulting with the heads and officials of a number of UN bodies and international organizations on various cooperation topics, as well as regional and international issues.
During his visit, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to meet with Martin Griffiths, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, and Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, said Ahmed Abu Zeid, the Ministry's official spokesperson.
The Foreign Minister will also meet with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, and new Director-General of the International Organization for Migration Amy Popp.
The meetings will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation programs between the two sides, as well as coordination of efforts on a number of regional and international developments, including the Sudanese crisis and its effects and ways to provide urgent humanitarian support to the brotherly Sudanese people.
Minister Shoukry will also meet with UN Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen, in the framework of ongoing consultations and coordination on ways to deal with the Syrian crisis in the coming period, and to strengthen international efforts to end this protracted crisis and alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Syrian people.
