Global tourism industry faces significant losses due to COVID-19 pandemic
(MENAFN) At least three people lost their lives and six others were injured in a missile attack that took place in Ukraine's southeastern Zaporizhzhia region in the early hours of Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Ukrainian National Police, a rocket, believed to have been fired by the Russian military, hit a five-story building. More than ten apartments, ranging from the second to fifth floors, were destroyed, while nearby houses suffered damage from the blast and debris. Police and Ukrainian intelligence officers are carrying out inspections to "document the consequences of the occupiers' war crime" and to gather evidence of Russian military aggression.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, reported that at least 20 people were evacuated from the area, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that search and rescue operations are underway. The Ukrainian President also condemned the attack and stated that the terrorist state aims to turn every day into a day of terror for the Ukrainian people. However, he added that evil would not reign in their land, and they would drive out all the occupiers and hold them accountable for everything.
The missile attack is the latest incident in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The conflict began in 2014 when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine and has since escalated into a broader conflict in eastern Ukraine, where Russian-backed separatists are fighting Ukrainian forces. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and has caused widespread damage to infrastructure and homes in the region. The attack is likely to further strain the already tense relations between Russia and Ukraine and may have implications for the broader international community.
