(MENAFN) EU allocates USD17.4 million to support Ukraine's digital transformation through the Digital Transformation for Ukraine (DT4UA) project, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. The project aims to enhance digital services and e-governance in the country, particularly after the crucial role they played during the ongoing conflict with Russia. The project will focus on four key areas, including the development of digital services and the Diia application, the improvement of data exchange between registers and state institutions, the development of electronic identification infrastructure in line with eIDAS regulations, and the creation of an electronic management system for transparent consideration of criminal cases.
Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, expressed his admiration for Ukraine's dynamic digital transformation process despite being in a state of full-scale war with Russia. He further stated that the EU considers it their duty to support the continued development of digital services in Ukraine to ensure its progress and recovery. The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in collaboration with the Estonian e-Governance Academy, which has been partnering with the Ukrainian public sector for over a decade. The Academy is currently carrying out four projects in Ukraine, with a total budget of EUR 41 million.
The European Union has been actively supporting Ukraine's digital transformation since 2016, with a total budget of over EUR 51 million. The DT4UA project will further contribute to Ukraine's efforts to digitize its public services and promote e-governance. With the EU's support, Ukraine aims to enhance its digital infrastructure and create a more efficient and transparent public service system for its citizens.
