4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Oman's Duqm Region


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) An earthquake measuring 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Oman's Duqm region on Sunday.
According to the Earthquake Monitoring Centre at Sultan Qaboos University, the seismic event occurred close to the town of Duqm, known for its deep sea port on the Arabian Sea. Only mild tremors were felt in the area.
The epicenter of the earthquake took place 9 kilometers northwest of Duqm, at a depth of 16.3 kilometres.
There have been no reports of human loss or material damage.
In July 2021, an earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck the Owen Fracture Zone in the Arabian Sea.
