The Public services Regulatory Authority (Aresep) approved this past Thursday a reduction in fuel prices . The adjustment must be published in the newspaper La Gaceta for its entry into force the next day.

Aresep reported that the adjustment was sent and it is expected to be applied as quickly as possible. The liter of regular gasoline will drop ₡‎115, the super ₡‎17 and the diesel ₡‎2.

These are the new prices for when they go into effect:

The 25-pound LP gas cylinder will also drop ₡‎259. The current cost is ₡‎7,479 and decreases to ₡‎7,220.

The reasons for this

The Regulatory Authority reported that for this extraordinary adjustment beginning this year, the international price of oil worldwide influenced. The significant drop in the dollar during this month of January also has an impact on the decision.

More to come

Recope issued a statement celebrating the downgrade. Two other adjustments, possibly downwards, remain on hold for February and March.
