Russia approves decision on non-payment of voluntary input to UN Economic Commission for Europe

(MENAFN) Russia stated on Monday that it approved a verdict on the non-payment of its unpaid input to the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) for last year, as a result of being enforced by the damaging movements of the US and EU nations in the commission.

“These states, in violation of internal procedures, ‘pushed through’ a number of illegitimate decisions in the UNECE Executive Committee aimed at limiting interaction between Russia and the commission,” an announcement by the Russian Foreign Ministry mentioned.

The announcement stated that these movements outcome in the halting of “Russian technical assistance projects in the UNECE, the implementation of which, in turn, is financed from the WFD (Water Framework Directive) funds," pointing out that Moscow does not mean to utilize Russian donor investments in the UNECE for anything apart from the improvement venture.

The announcement additionally noted that “We note with regret that the credibility and effectiveness of the commission, as well as the Central Asian and Transcaucasian states, the main recipients of Russian assistance, suffered from the unfriendly actions of the EU and the US.”
