Russian officials disclose increased gas shipments to China

(MENAFN) According to Aleksey Miller, CEO of Gazprom, the company's gas shipments to China have hit a "fundamentally new level."

According to Miller, supplies over the last year have frequently surpassed contractual requirements at Beijing's request, as claimed in a message on the business' Telegram channel.

Miller also mentioned that “on December 31, a few days ahead of schedule, we started to supply daily volumes that are contracted for next year. This means that from January 1, 2023, gazprom reached a fundamentally new level of supplying gas to China.”

Through the Power of Siberia pipeline, Russia provides gas to the Asian countries. A greater number of gas transit routes are planned by Gazprom, which is going to allow for increased delivery to China.

TASS news agency stated on Monday that despite the increase in trade with Beijing, Gazprom saw its overall export volume decline by nearly 45 percent compared to 2021 and its output fall by around 20 percent. The news agency based its estimates on the information supplied by the Gazprom CEO.
