DOHA: The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) announced that the first week of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 recorded more than 7,000 flights, noting that the air traffic at both Hamad and Doha International Airports witnessed a significant increase since the kickoff of the tournament.

In a statement, the QCAA said that many Gulf carriers began to operate shuttle flights to the State of Qatar. In addition, airlines from Arab countries and the rest of the world enhance their services to Doha to provide integrated air transport for tournament fans.

The QACC affirmed that several international airlines, including German Lufthansa, Air France, Finnair, and KLM, in addition to airlines from South America and Africa, have commenced operating regular and charter flights to Qatar, which has led to a noticeable operational intensity between Qatar and the rest of the world.

The statement indicated that the development of air transport in the State of Qatar continues with the activation of the Doha Flight Information Region (FIR), which increased capacity and air routes arriving to and departing from Qatar to achieve more streamlined air movements and a greater guarantee of safety.
