Amman, Oct 4 (Petra) -- The Amman Magistrates Court has heard the testimonies of 16 Public Prosecution witnesses in the case of the deadly collapse of an apartment building in the Amman neighborhood of Jabal Luweibdeh three weeks ago.
Two witnesses remained in hospital with serious wounds, 21 days after the collapse in which 14 people died and 9 were injured.
During its fourth public session this morning, which was presided over by Judge Sharaf Abu Latifa, the court decided to remand the three defendants in custody for another week, and not to hear the testimony of another witness, the father of a girl who survived the incident.
The case includes a report submitted by 5 experts after the Amman Public Prosecutor formed a special technical committee to determine the cause of the collapse and pinpoint responsibility.
Among those testifying was a mother who lost her three children, who were buried under the rubble, recounting the moments before she left the house, where she lived for 18 years, and the moments later until they were laid to rest. She said cracks have been in the walls since the day she rented her apartment, and that the building had undergone maintenance.
The court decided to adjourn the trial until next Tuesday, and complete the hearings of Public Prosecution witnesses.
