AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Monday received Chairman of Egypt's Supreme Council for media Regulation (SCMR) Karam Gabr.

During a meeting at the Prime Ministry, Khasawneh highlighted the Jordanian-Egyptian 'strategic' relations, emphasising the 'key' role of both countries' media outlets in enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as sharing their common stances over several international and regional issues, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Gabr stressed the importance of advancing cooperation in the media field and exchanging expertise to best serve both countries.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul met Gabr and his accompanying delegation.

The Royal directives stress the necessity of maintaining 'distinguished' relations with Cairo and cooperation at the highest levels, Shboul, who is also the government spokesperson, said.

Highlighting that both countries are on the“same page” on several issues, Shboul said that 'Jordan and Egypt see eye-to-eye on the Palestinian cause and the frameworks of joint cooperation”, Petra added.

Shboul also expressed keenness to bolster media cooperation, whether at the level of official media institutions or launching joint initiatives to control the violating content on social media platforms.

Gabr said that President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi's directives have always emphasised that Jordan and Egypt's national security is intertwined and have stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields.

He also commended Amman's stances in support of Cairo, highlighting the efforts of both countries' leaderships to enhance Arab action and maintain regional security and stability.

The discussions were held on the sidelines of the Arab Media Meetings hosted by Jordan.

The meetings are organised by the Secretariat General of the Arab League/Media and Communication Sector in cooperation with the Arab Commission for Satellite Broadcasting and will kick off on Tuesday.
