300 Firms From 30 Countries At Hospitality, Project Qatar

Doha: The biggest international trade event before the World Cup, Project Qatar and Hospitality Qatar, was opened yesterday which brought together over 300 companies from 30 countries, and 16 official trade delegations worldwide.

Minister of Commerce and Industry H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani inaugurated the four-day event at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, together with Qatari Diar CEO, Eng. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah; and Manateq CEO, Fahad Rashid Al Kaabi. 

The two events combined into one is billed under the theme“One Show, Multiple Opportunities,” Project Qatar is on its 18th edition, while Hospitality Qatar – 7th edition. Project Qatar is the biggest and most comprehensive construction business platform, while Hospitality Qatar is the longest-running International Hospitality and HORECA (Hotel/Restaurant/Café) trade show.

General Manager of IFP Qatar, organiser of the event, Haidar Mshaimesh said the two events played an important role in the contributing to overhaul Qatar's construction, infrastructure, and hospitality sectors to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

“Today, as the world waits for this mega event drawing near, the two exhibitions set the stage for the business community to meet and network. This high-level crowd, we welcomed at today's opening ceremony, is a clear testament to the value of the company's exhibitions and its position,” he continued.

Investment Holding Group also revealed its new name and identity – Estithmar Holding and its acquisition of Elegancia Group. Its CEO, Dr. Henrik Christiansen said:“In today's rapidly evolving economy, diversification is a key to growth. Through this acquisition, the Group is moving steadily towards diversifying its portfolio of investments and projects, comprising various economic sectors in the country.” 

“Our participation in the exhibition as a diamond sponsor marks the announcement of a new phase in the group's journey through which we are moving towards becoming the largest and most diverse business group in Qatar,” he added.

In April Estithmar Holding announced its strategic reorganisation of its businesses. On Saturday, it revealed that some of its subsidiaries have established six new companies in different sectors including: tourism, entertainment hospitality and catering.

Conferences were also held yesterday. The discussions include Overview on the 2022/2023 project opportunities from Asghal; Italian and Saudi investments; Reimagine indoor air with Active Pure; Overview on the projects delivered for the preparation of FIFA World Cup 2022; Manataq – offering business solutions for a vibrant private sector; Logistics Hub: Connecting the world to Qatar by MILAHA; Qatar's efforts to drive sustainability in the Hospitality sector by Cundall, among others.

Trainings and conferences will continue until June 9, the last day of the exhibition.
