Doha: The Jury Programme under the 10th Ajyal Film Festival will be held from October 1 to 8, the Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced. The Ajyal Jury Competition is the core component of the festival and presents DFI's jurors aged 8-25 with the exciting opportunity to decide Ajyal's competition winners.

Each of the three Ajyal Juries awards a Best Film prize to their favourite short and feature-length films, for a total of six awards. The directors of the winning films are granted funding towards their next film.

This year's format is distinct as DFI screenings will be exclusively for our Ajyal Jurors. Selected local films will also become an integral part of the main competition for 2022 and will be automatically entered into the next Made in Qatar Programme, returning in 2023.

Feature Film Competition showcases a selection of narrative and documentary films from around the world while the Short Film Competition features short narrative and documentary films worldwide.

The Ajyal Competition section is divided into three – Mohaq (New Moon) for jurors 8-12 years of age; Hilal (Crescent), for jurors 13-17 years of age; and Bader (Full Moon) for jurors 18-25 years of age. Winners will be awarded into six categories for each of the section with cash award from US$5,000 to US$15,000.

Festival submissions opened on April 3 and will close on July 21. DFI has also clarified that the Made in Qatar competition will not take place this year as all Qatari films are eligible to be submitted for the main Ajyal Competition section. All selected titles will also be automatically entered into the next Made in Qatar Programme, returning in 2023.
