QC Chairman lauds relations between Qatar and US

Doha: Qatar Chamber Chairman sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani lauded the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the US, stressing the interest to develop cooperation links between the Qatari and American business sectors and urge companies from both sides to boost cooperation and forge partnerships.

This came during a meeting held recently with US delegation, headed by Former US Representative, Jane Harman, on the occasion of its visit to Qatar.
The delegation included Paula Dobresnski, Former Under Secretary for Global Affairs, and Ann Patterson, Former Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs, and Maureen Quinn, Former US Ambassador to Qatar.

The meeting was also attended by QC First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari and a number of board members, as well as Sheikha Mayes bint Hamad Al Thani, US-Qatar Business Council Doha office managing director.
The meeting touched on economic and commercial cooperation between both countries and opportunities galore for Qatari investors in the US.
Sheikh Khalifa also confirmed that the US is one of the most important destinations for Qatari investments, noting that US embraces many investments in various fields.
On the other hand, he said, Qatar investment climate attract foreign investments and offers a lot of incentives in various sectors such as digital economy, financial services, knowledge-based economy, technology, food security, tourism, and others.
QC Chairman underscored the Chamber's interest and encouragement for Qatari businessmen to explore opportunities available in the US and take advantage of the convergence between both countries, affirming that Qatar encourages Qatari youth to establish business.
He also informed the US delegation on Qatar's economy, investment climate and legislative reforms adopted by the state, as well as labour reforms achieved to safeguarded rights of expatriated labourers.

Elaborating the role of Qatari woman, Sheikh Khalifa assured that Qatar attaches great interest to empowering women in all fields, adding that Qatari woman accomplished a lot of achievements and occupied high positions in the society.
On her part, Jane Harman said that US businessmen are interested to invest in Qatar, praising the significant boom Qatar witnessing in all fields and its strategy aiming at reducing dependence on energy and diversifying income resources.

Harman lauded Qatar's interest in enabling woman to educate, work, occupy high positions and establish businesses.
The US delegation praised the key role played by the Qatar-US Business Council, as well as labour reforms it achieved within the past few years, affirming that Qatar sees great boom and is a promising investment market in many sectors.
