Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday concluded its activities that were held at its pavilion at the 31st Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), run until January 22, 2022.

The pavilion attracted larger number of visitors who took a glimpse of education journey in Qatar since the fifties of the last century to the modern education system that the ministry applies during the current era.

A number of prominent personalities visited the Ministry's pavilion where they briefed about the activities focusing on the history of education in Qatar.

The pavilion showcased education history including old textbooks, educational tools, classroom benches and pictures of a large number of students taking lessons in the past.

Head of the Learning Resources Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Nawal Al Tamimi said that the Ministry's pavilion this year has done a great job in reviewing all the educational systems that Qatar has gone through during the past years.

She said that over 25 government and private schools participated in the Ministry's pavilion holding more than 77 events and screening 33 educational and historical videos, pointing out that an average each event was attended virtually by more than 60 students in all schools.

Al Tamimi said that the events included many online competitions and many stories from the old educational system, and a review of the history of a number of influential figures in the development of the educational process in the Qatar over the past years. She said that the new generations should know those personalities who contributed largely in the development of the educational process.

Al Tamimi said that the Ministry was keen that participants were not limited to government schools, but rather worked to attract many private schools to benefit from their activities and expertise in enriching the Ministry's pavilion at the Doha International Book Fair.

She stressed that this year's pavilion was a great qualitative leap in the Ministry's participation over the past years, pointing out that despite pandemic the ministry organised all its activities successfully – virtually or in-person following precautionary measures by reducing the number of attendance and taking all measures such as wearing masks and the social distancing.
