AMMAN — Culture Minister Haifa Najjar and Tunisia's Ambassador to Jordan Khaled Suhaili on Sunday signed the Jordanian-Tunisian governments' framework agreement and executive programme for cultural cooperation for the years 2022 to 2024.

“The deep-rooted, historic Jordanian-Tunisian relations are based on mutual respect and understanding of the reality of Arab citizens and their capability to network, interact, and sustain cultural action in the Arab region,” Najjar was quoted in a Ministry statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

During the signing ceremony, Najjar said that the agreement and programme reflect the“historic” bilateral relations and the two peoples' aspirations to develop cultural ties in the fields of art, culture and cultural management, to reach a“creative pioneering culture” that respects the values of diversity, moderation and tolerance.

This cultural cooperation comes as Jordan enters the second centennial, which confirms Jordan's message to maintain coordination and support Arab solidarity in all cultural and artistic fields, the minister pointed out.

Suhaili praised the Culture Ministry's keenness to enhance cultural cooperation between the countries, which started in 1981.

The diplomat also referred to the memorandum of cooperation between the National Library of Jordan and the National Library of Tunisia that aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise in the archiving field and cooperation in restoring documents and manuscripts.

He said that“the momentum and cooperation in cultural action is a true reflection of the deep-rooted relations between Amman and Tunis”.
