Afghanistan's acting foreign minister Amir Khan Motaqi called on the Chinese Ambassador to Kabul Wang Yu in the Afghan foreign ministry on Saturday, December 04.
Spokesman of the ministry Abdul Qahar Balkhi in a series of Twitter posts said that parties discussed political and trade relations, humanitarian aids, development, and the provision of technical education to Afghan students.
“Amir Khan Motaqi concentrated on the extension of trade relations with China. The extension of pine nuts' export to China was discussed and that other means and routes must be found for Afghan exports to China.” Reads a Tweet.
China along with Pakistan has been one of the friendliest countries with the Taliban after they recaptured the country over three and a half months ago.
Being an archrival of the US, though China accused America of being defeated in Afghanistan and was one of the biggest critics of the US withdrawal from the war-ravaged country, it is now probably the closest ally of the Taliban in the region.
The Taliban are have also expressed hope to closely work with China especially in economic areas.
