QRCS, IOM discuss means of bolstering cooperation


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Secretary-General of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi and Chief of the Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Qatar Iman Younis Ereiqat discussed means of bolstering the cooperation between QRCS and the UN organization, and a number of issues of common concern.

During a meeting between the sides, Al Hammadi welcomed a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Red Crescent and the Mission of the UN International Organization for Migration which aims to facilitate the bilateral cooperation and coordination; and acquaint the employees of Qatar Red Crescent with international expertise; given the special attention QRSC attaches to migration and expat labor issues.

Ambassador Al Hammadi noted that QRCS issued the ''Doha Dialogue on Migration” initiative; managed the Human Care Center and Quarantine Center in Mekaines; implemented development projects in cooperation with resident communities to promote peace and social integration; in addition to preparing several legal and diplomatic publications on the rights of migrants from the perspective of the International Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement.

For her part, Iman Younis Ereiqat said that the IOM looks forward to cooperating with QRCS as a key partner in the humanitarian field.
