China's customs confiscate petrified teeth of primitive shark

(MENAFN) The customs in southwest Chinese Chongqing Municipality have confiscated two fossilized teeth of a megalodon, a primitive species of shark.

The fossils, coming to 104.8 grams and 57.6 grams each, were located in a parcel when going through the customs in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

The megalodon, signifying "big tooth," was a giant shark that lived around 28 million to 150,000 years ago. It is supposed to be a violent predator in primitive oceans with a bite force five times that of a huge white shark.

With a supposed maximum length of 18 meters and a weight of 50-70 tonnes, it is one of the biggest predators ever.
