China-Laos railway to improve connectivity, support businesses


(MENAFN) The China-Laos railway and the Vientiane-Boten expressway will offer giant momentum in reinforcing Laos' connectivity with the rest of the area, local daily Vientiane Times on Tuesday. January 5, cited Acting President of the Lao National Economic Research Institute Sathabandith Insyxiengmay as stating.

The railway and expressway are part of the China-suggested Belt and Road Initiative and in line with the Lao government's plan to change the country from being landlocked to land-linked within the area, Sathabandith stated.

These two ways will allow faster movement of people and workers, while shareholders will be able to run businesses in more regions, stated the official, adding that it will lead to the enhancement of services and facilities in towns located alongside the railway and expressway.
