Greece implements new lockdown


(MENAFN) Stelios Petsas, a government representative announced that two cities in Greece have to go into lockdown because of the increasing number of COVID-19 infections at 530, 839, and 449 new cases confirmed in the two cities this past weekend.

"While the figures show that Greece is still among the non exponential growth in coronavirus cases in our country," Petsas stated during a press conference held on Monday, November 2nd.

"The condition in Thessaloniki, [and] in some neighboring regions, is extremely serious for public health. health Minister Vassilis Kikilias visited the city and an emergency plan has been set in motion."

From Tuesday, November 3rd, a curfew will be implemented from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the upcoming 15 days in Thessaloniki and Serres.

Residents must notify the General Secretariat for Civil Protection through text message if they have to leave their homes, which is a protocol that was implemented during the first lockdown in March.
