Uzbekistan sees decline of 12.5 percent in foreign trade turnover

Uzbek State Statistics Committee said on Monday that Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover declined more than 12.5 percent, or what is equal to USD3.5 billion, in the starting eight months of the current year compared to a year ago.

The total volume of foreign trade turnover came in at USD24.5 billion in the period, as exports stood at USD11.6 billion while imports came in at USD12.9 billion, a negative balance of USD1.3 billion dollars.

China came on top of the list of Uzbekistan's biggest foreign trade partners, having a share of 16.4 percent, as Russia, Kazakhstan and South Korea followed.

Uzbekistan has significantly raised its gold exports, that came in at 50 percent of the total exports, coming in at a total of USD5.8 billion in the period.
