New Delhi, Apr 15 (KNN) The Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has extended the grace period till June 30, 2020 for Food Business Operators (FBOs) for applying for renewal of licence/ registration expired or expiring during the period from March 22, 2020 till May 31, 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In an order, FSSAI said as there is restriction of movement during pan-India lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic, it has been noted that FBOs who generally take help of state helpdesks, authorities or consultants to file applications are not being able to do so for renewal of their FSSAI Licenses or Registrations.

The grace period has been given by the FSSAI without any late fees. During the lockdown period the FSSAI licenses/ registration shall deemed to be valid.

For the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, since the internet services have been restored, FSSAI has given the FBOs, whose licences registrations have expired or are expiring during the period August 1, 2019 to May 31, 2021, a grace period till June 30, 2020 without any late fee.

'In the interim period the licences/ registration shall deemed to be valid, said the food safety watchdog. (KNN Bureau)
