Qatar to celebrate centenary of International Labour Organization


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Under the patronage of  the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Labour Organization (ILO) today.

ILO's Deputy Director-General for Field Operations and Partnerships Moussa Oumarou, Deputy Secretary-General at International Organization of Employers (IOE) Matthias Thorns, and Deputy General Secretary of International Trade Union Confederation Mamadou Diallo as well as industry professionals and guests from the Sultanate of Oman, and the Kingdom of Morocco will participate in the ceremonial event. 

This participation comes to emphasize the joint role between the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs and the ILO, particularly in the field of setting labor standards and policies and joint programs and projects in the field of labor.

On this occasion and in cooperation between the Ministry and the Qatar Central Bank, commemorative coins were issued to celebrate the centenary of the ILO. This initiative is a recognition of the ILO's considerable work efforts over the past 100 years and is a testament to the close partnership between the ILO and the State of Qatar.Qatar joined the ILO in 1972.
