Muscat Municipality has said that the raids conducted by its teams on expatriate residences are done in accordance with the procedures laid out. The municipality issued a statement after a raid was conducted on expatriate homes in Al Hail, Seeb.
In a statement, the civic body assured raids are conducted only if it gets complaints. 'The raid was conducted by the Muscat Municipality's urban inspection department and the legal follow-up department in Seeb in coordination with the Public Prosecution and the ROP.'
The statement added, 'Municipality conducts raids on residences as per legal procedures. Action is taken only after a complaint is received by the concerned directorate informing them of any violation.'
The complaint is checked for and it is only after the approval of the two departments concerned that the permission to carry out the raid is given. In the Al Hail incident, three government agencies raided a house that was being used by expatriate workers in violation of the municipal laws.
