Khashoggi fiancee Cengiz demands further UN investigations

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The death of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal
Khashoggi warrants further UN investigations, his fiancee Hatice
Cengiz said on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN Human Rights
Council in Geneva.
At the council on Wednesday, UN rights expert Agnes Callamard is set
to present her report into Khashoggi's death inside the Saudi
consulate in Istanbul in October. Callamard has concluded that Riyadh
was responsible for his "deliberate, premeditated execution."
"The truth is out and it is clear. The findings of the report are a
call for action," Turkish writer Cengiz said, speaking in her native
language through an English translator.
Cengiz attended a discussion that was organized by the Brussels-based
group No Peace Without Justice, whose causes include international
criminal accountability and democracy in the Middle East.
Callamard, the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, said
at the same event that "silence is not an option."
"Silence is feeding injustice," she added.
