Afghanistan: heavy downpour, flash floods claim 13 lives


(MENAFN) Provincial governor Ghulam Nasir Khazih declared that up to 13 people have been killed as at least 100 houses have been devastated due to heavy rain and flash floods in western Afghanistan's Ghor province over the past two days.

Khazih added that the floods widely affected the provincial capital Firoz Koah and the neighboring Tolak and Shahrak districts where over 100 houses had been drifted away and farmlands devastated.

The governor also urged national and international aid agencies to help with the flood hit people.
