Jordan- Emperor of Japan confers upon Judeh Grand Cordon of Order of the Rising Sun

Tokyo, May 23 (Petra)-- Emperor Naruhito, who ascended the Imperial throne of Japan earlier this month and in his first conferment ceremony, bestowed upon Former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh the Grand Cordon of Order of the Rising Sun, the highest Japanese decoration awarded to non Japanese personalities, at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo Thursday.
The formal ceremony was attended by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
This distinguished Order awarded by the Japanese Government came in recognition for Minister Judeh's role and contributions in advancing the historic relationship and friendship between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Japan over many years, particularly during his tenure as Foreign Minister.
Judeh expressed his pride and gratitude on receiving this high honor which he referred to as an acknowledgement of Jordan as well as for him personally, added that it reflects the decades-old strong and historic relationship between the two countries and peoples.
Judeh said that the foundations of this special bond were laid by His Late Majesty King Hussein and the late Emperor Hirohito (Showa) and prospered further under His Majesty King Abdullah II bin al Hussein and the Former Emperor Akihito (Heisei) and now Emperor Naruhito.
The former minister added that this special friendship unites the two Royal Houses, governments and peoples and wished it further strength and prosperity.
