Japan: elderly crashes into crowd, killing 2


(MENAFN) Local police declared that two people are feared killed as eight more were wounded after a car rammed into them at a crowded intersection in Tokyo.

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the vehicle, driven by a man in his 80s, hit the pedestrians at a crosswalk and then crashed into a garbage truck in the busy Ikebukuro district of Tokyo.

Local media revealed that a female, one in her 20s, and a child aged 2 whose thought to be her daughter, are feared killed in the accident, as both of whom were discovered in a comatose, unresponsive condition.

The crash took place at about 12:30 p.m. local time near the Higashi-Ikebukuro subway station, which serves the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line and conducts about 43,000 passengers daily.
