(MENAFN) Russia's Foreign Ministry affirmed that both Russia and Iran reached an understanding on the importance of a resolution to the Venezuelan crisis.
During a phone call between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, an agreement to accelerate efforts for a resolution as reached.
According to the Foreign Ministry, both officials addressed the ongoing crisis being witnessed in Venezuela.
It added that the officials voiced "readiness to contribute, on the basis of the principles of the UN (United Nations) Charter, to the efforts of the international community to find mutual understanding between the responsible political forces of Venezuela."
