(MENAFN) Army commanders of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) reached a resolution to execution a transition initiative in Somalia.
Commanders achieved an understanding on main missions for implementation under AMISOM's new concept of operations (CONOPS), the AMISOM affirmed in a statement issued on Saturday.
The CONOPS consist of operations to be launched against al-Shabab terrorists to wipe them out, the mission stressed.
It added that "the activities will consist of comprehensive operations in support of the Somalia Transition Plan and will include stability operations targeting al-Shabab hideouts and enhancing protection of population centers."
