Azerbaijan's unemployment level among lowest in CIS

Azerbaijan's unemployment level is among the lowest in the CIS countries, Trend reports Feb. 15 with reference to the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee.

Thus, the ratio of registered unemployed in Azerbaijan in relation to the economically active population is 0.4 percent. This ratio in Belarus is slightly lower - 0.3 percent.

In other CIS countries, the ratio of unemployed to economically active population is as follows: Russia - 0.9 percent, Kazakhstan - 1 percent, Moldova - 1.3 percent, Tajikistan - 2.2 percent, Kyrgyzstan - 2.8 percent.

The total number of unemployed in the CIS at the end of 2018 exceeded 1.36 million people, which is 6.6 percent less than in the previous year.

During the reporting period, 20,100 unemployed were registered in Azerbaijan, 12,500 people in Belarus, 18,700 people in Moldova and 70,900 people in Kyrgyzstan, 51,800 people in Tajikistan, 91,600 people in Kazakhstan, 341,700 people in Ukraine, 693,200 people in Russia and 64,600 people in Armenia.
