(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Popular Bollywood stars, including Sonu Sood, Aftab Shivdasani, Saqib Saleem, Deepak Tijori and Shreyas Talpade, and Omani celebrities like Haitham Rafi, Sabah al Fadhil and Yousuf al Balushi, will be padding up to play in the Oman Celebrity Cricket League Match on Friday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex (SQSC) in Bausher.
Organisers held a press conference on Wednesday to announce the event. Supported by Omantel, the match will be played in the T20 format.
Actress Rimi Sen will be present, while Aarti Khetarpal will host an event connected to the celebrity match. The event will feature performances by singer Nadeem al Balushi and Kings United Dance Academy.
Celebrities from Nepal will also join the celebrations, while students from Indian and Omani schools will be felicitated for academic and sports excellence in 2017-18.
About playing in the celebrity match, Sood said, 'It's wonderful to play cricket in a beautiful country like Oman. We are certain that spectators will not be disappointed. The match is expected to be an exciting one. We are especially excited that the match is being held under the aegis of Muscat Festival. We look forward to the event that is planned around the match too.'
A spokesperson for the organisers said that a part of the proceeds from the celebrity match will go to a social cause in Oman.
Expressing delight over participating in the event, Tijori said, 'We are excited to come to Oman and play a match that is part of the renowned Muscat Festival. While playing cricket is exciting, watching cricket live too is an emotion which you cannot explain. It is a great opportunity for players and spectators.'
