(MENAFN) Flamengo will still embrace Brazilian midfielder Diego as he inked a renewal contract, following weeks of rumors over the former Atletico Madrid midfielder's fate.
The midfielder was announced to have inked a 2-year extension agreement with the Brazilian club after accepting its terms Tuesday night.
Addressing reporters, the 33-year-old commented on the step: "I'm happy and satisfied to be staying here."
Diego noted that "there were some difficult moments [in negotiations]. Some proposals, like the one from Orlando City, made me think."
He added: "but my desire to remain at Flamengo made the difference. I came to the conclusion that there are still things that I want to win with this club."
