Afghanistan: 8 security force members die in car bomb blast


(MENAFN) Local officials announced that eight Afghan security force members have died in a car bomb blast on a convoy of the governor of Afghanistan's southern Logar province, however, the provincial chief survived.

Shahpoor Ahmadzai, the spokesman for Logar's provincial police confirmed that the attacker blew a bomb-laden car close to the governor's convoy on a key highway between Logar and the capital Kabul.

Ahmadzai added: "Unfortunately 10 others are wounded, and the number of casualties may rise."

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, confirmed that the outfit was behind the explosion and that a "large number" of Afghan special forces had been dead or injured.
