Lebanese, Russian FMs regional political developments over phone

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil had a phone chat with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov with whom he debated current developments relating to Lebanon and the region.

According to a Lebanese Foreign Ministry statement, the phone conversation touched on "the importance of preserving Lebanon's security without linking it to other regional issues".

The two men also reportedly debated Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri's continuing struggle to form a new government.

Since May 6 parliamentary elections, Lebanon's government-formation procedure has faced frequent postponements, with mutual accusations between the country's key political forces and demands by certain parties for better representation.
