Jordan- GDP up by 2% in third quarter of 2018

Amman, Jan. 2 (Petra) -- Jordan's gross domestic product (GDP) posted a 2 percent growth during the third quarter of 2018 compared to that of the same period of 2017, according to a report released by the Department of Statistics (DoS).

At the level of production sectors, most sectors have shown positive growth during the third quarter of 2018 against the same span of 2017, the DoS report showed.

According to the DoS figures, the social and personal services sector has scored the highest growth rate at 3.5 percent, while the agricultural came second at 2.9 percent, the transport, storage and communications sector by 2.8 percent, the finance, insurance and real estate sector rose by 2.7 percent, then the electricity and water sector by 2.4 percent.

At the level of sectors contribution to the achieved growth rate during the third quarter of 2018, the finance, insurance and real estate sector has contributed by 0.59 percentage points, and the and manufacturing sector by 0.37 percentage points of total achieved growth, the transport, storage and communications sector and social and personal services sector's contribution was at 0.23 percentage points respectively, then the wholesale, retail trade, restaurants and hotels at 0.15 percentage points of total achieved growth.
