UN urged to form monitoring regime for Yemen

(MENAFN) The UN Security Council ought to start observing the cease-fire which was reached in Yemen, emphasized the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths.

The "robust monitoring regime" is "urgently needed" and is not just important for the strategy, the UN envoy stressed.

The envoy noted: "at the instruction of the Secretary General relevant departments in New York and elsewhere are already active on the planning for urgent deployment subject to the decisions of this Council."

Griffiths further added that Yemeni rival parties reached a settlement which indicates that the move is accepted and must be executed.
