US donates with USD 350 million to Tunisia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Acting Vice President Kyeh Kim announced on Monday a donation of USD 350 million will be given From USA to Tunisia to finance economic projects.

Kim, who is currently on an official visit to Tunisia, said in a press statement that the Investment Management Committee of the Program approved at its last meeting the file submitted by the Tunisian side and the allocation of a grant to finance the proposed projects worth about USD 350 million.

After talks with Tunisian Minister of Development and International Cooperation Zied Ladhari said that the donation will be allocated to finance projects in the fields of transport, agriculture, trade and digital communication and economic technologies.

The donation aims to boost growth and private investment "by focusing information systems, digitizing services for investors and developing infrastructure," she added.

Ladhari emphasized at the meeting the commitment of the Tunisian government to boost economic reforms and improve the investment climate that are conditions for the success of this mega-program.

The MCC is an American government agency that aims to fight against poverty through the achievement of inclusive development. (end) ksg.aa
