Head of State considers transcendent triumph in world amputee football cup


(MENAFN- EIN) Luanda, ANGOLA, November 11 - Angolan President, João Lourenço, has considered Angola's win of the World Amputee Football Cup to be a transcendent feat, after they beat Turkey in the final by 5-4, on penalties.,

In a note to the Angolan Paralympics Committee (CPA), the Head of State said that the triumph fills the Angolan people with joy.

"I would therefore like to convey my heartfelt congratulations to the valiant members of the national soccer team who stoically beat Mexico, a victorious course that results and statistics confirm unequivocally: six wins in seven games!", writes João Lourenço.

According to the document that has reached ANGOP, the triumph achieved by the national amputee soccer team values the effort developed by different structures of the Angolan State with a view to the reintegration of citizens with disabilities.

In the letter to the Angolan Paralympics Committee CPA, President João Lourenço urges the Angolan youth to take into account the inspiring example of self-improvement and steadfastness demonstrated in Mexico (venue of the competition) by the members of the national team.

The national team, now world champions, are comprised mostly by young people who have lost their limbs to the service of the motherland as soldiers.

In the World Cup final, Angola beat Turkey 5-4 on penalties, after a 0-0 result in the regular period.
