Wild boar gunned down after rampaging through school grounds

A wild boar took animal control officers on a frantic chase through the grounds of a high school in Texas before being cornered in the backyard of a neighboring property and shot dead by police officers.

Brownfield High School in Lubbock said it notified authorities when the boar was chased into the school from an adjoining backyard.

'Law enforcement and the game warden were notified and they collaborated to try to remove the hog from school property,' the school told parents. 'In order to ensure the safety and security of our students, the hog was shot and killed by law enforcement.'

Police followed the boar into another property near the school and fired three shots, killing the animal, everythinglubbock.com reported. There were no injuries at the school or among the police officers.
