ITAK MPs Sumanthiran and Sivasakthi Anandan clash

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Illangai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) member and ITAK MP Sivasakthi Anandan clashed in Parliament today.

The verbal clash took place after Sumanthiran told the chair to prevent Sivasakthi Anandan from making a political speech in Parliament today claiming it was a privilege issue.

Sivasakthi Anandan however said that he must be allowed to speak as an elected Parliamentarian.

Sumanthiran however insisted that ITAK will not give him time to speak from the time given to ITAK.

Joint opposition leader Dinesh Gunawardena then spoke in support of Sivasakthi Anandan and said that he could use the time allocated to the joint opposition to make his speech.

However as Sumanthiran continued to object, the Deputy Speaker, who was in the chair at the time, said that he will raise the issue with the Speaker and take a decision later. (Colombo Gazette)
