Afghanistan: 45 security forces, 16 militants die in battles


(MENAFN) Authorities declared that over 45 Afghan security forces and 16 militants have died after Taliban militants ambushed security checkpoints in two western Afghan provinces.

Provincial governor Abdul Qhafoor Malikzai confirmed that 30 Afghan military troopers have died after militants attacked two security checkpoints in Bala Murghab district, western Badghis province.

The governor added that 16 Taliban militants have died as well as at least 15 militants were injured in the tensed battle.

The security posts were raided by the militants, as the wounded included were a Taliban shadow provincial governor, according to the governor.
