QDB successfully conducts 'Business modeling' course

Qatar Development Bank (QDB) in collaboration with Strategyzer imparted a specially designed course ‘Business modeling and value proposition design’ for low-medium startups and entrepreneurs supported by the bank. The course was conducted at the Marriot Marquis-city center in Doha from 25 to 28 February 2018. The course aimed at providing participants a platform to learn and develop invincible business models by working through case studies, visually engaging examples and hands-on exercises. The four-day long training session was attended by 27 entrepreneurs and covered various topics like the business model Canvas, identifying customer jobs, prototyping business models, pitching business models, talking to your customers, testing business models, where your business model lives and re-inventing business models. Commenting on this course Mr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser Al Khalifa, CEO of QDB, said: “The training session is a result of QDB’s efforts to develop and empower entrepreneurs and innovators to contribute to the diversification of the Qatari economy, through providing the necessary education and training to develop the entrepreneurs and the successful small and medium enterprises that are able to compete in local and global markets. Our strategy is to stimulate this vibrant, robust and diversified private sector, in order to build a knowledge-based integrated economy, and contribute in achieving self-sufficiency, in line with QNV 2030.” The course was delivered by Strategyzer, the originators of the efficacious business model Canvas used by startups worldwide for developing innovative ideas into practical business models. Strategyzer is a software company specializing in tools and content for strategic management and innovation. The course was led by Ton Van Der Linden, as the key instructor. Ton is a business model expert with over 25 years of experience in strategy, marketing & business development. Ton holds a Master of Business Marketing degree from TU/e (merged with TIAS). He is an expert in growing businesses in a responsible manner by applying business tools, like the business model Canvas, design thinking and agile marketing. After the successful conduct of a similar training during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) last year, the bank was encouraged to again organize the course this year for the benefit of low-medium entrepreneurs and startups. Like the previous year, the course this year too drew attention and appreciation from all the participants. Through the ‘Business modeling and value proposition design’ course, QDB has empowered attendees with the skill set and tools needed to nurture their entrepreneurship-focus.
