Qatar- Leadership skills top conference agenda

The third edition of the Student Leadership Conference is to kick off today at Qatar University under the patronage of H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums.
The two-day conference themed 'Achievement, Development and Leadership will host representatives of universities and higher education institutions. The conference aims to provide with a platform for dialogue and communication bringing together different universities, colleges in Qatar and other Gulf countries in order to enhance dialogue, exchange experiences and develop skills.
A number of academic workshops, and practical sessions on leadership will be held throughout the conference. Participants from universities of Kuwait and Oman will be offered training sessions and workshops.

The conference creates opportunity to discover and develop leadership skills among university students, said Abdulla Al Yafei, Student Services and Activities Director.

Al Yafei pointed out that this year conference has come under exceptional situation being faced by the State of Qatar and entire Gulf region which is a fact necessitating focus on initiatives which create thoughtful generation of leaders aware about what is going in the region.

Students are required to develop capacities and apply a number of means and leadership skills in particular skills of teamwork, problem solving, encouraging others to take initiatives, raise awareness and bear social responsibilities, Al Yafei stressed.

Qatar Youth Hostels will ensure the tourism aspect for the participants of the conference, said Executive Director of Qatar Youth Hostels Ahmed Hassan Al Obaidli. The Qatar Youth Hostels' support to the conference match with aims of the Qatari youth, therefore these hostels have arranged integrated program for visiting a number of historical and famous places in Qatar, Al Obaidali added.
