All Pakistanis genuinely in need will get Indian medical visas

The MEA has announced that it will grant medical visas in all genuine cases pending with the Indian High Commission in Pakistan.
This means applicants will no longer need to obtain a recommendation letter from former Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz- a requirement that had been announced in May.
The step that had come amid heightened bilateral tension was "highly regrettable", Pakistan had said.

Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted about the relaxation in norms last night. "On the auspicious occasion of India's Independence day, we will grant medical visa in all bona fide cases pending with us," she said.
Earlier, India even considered limiting visas for Pakistani citizens to medical visas only.
Despite the previous restrictions, Swaraj has often intervened when individuals reached out to her for assistance.
