Over 90 companies to take part in Iranian trade expo


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- An Iranian trade exhibition, organised by Omanexpo in collaboration with the Iranian Embassy in the sultanate, will be held from January 23 to 27 at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The event will be inaugurated under the auspices of H E Dr Ali bin Masoud bin Ali al Sunaidy, Minster of Commerce and Industry and Eng Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Iranian Minister of Industry and Trade.

The exhibition aims at enhancing trade between the sultanate and Iran.

More than 90 Iranian companies from sectors like food, oil and gas, automobile, technology, agriculture and mechanical and chemical industries will showcase their products and services at the event.

B2B meetings will also be held on January 24 from 10am till 1pm. These will determine the nature of business and possible collaboration between the two countries and will also help explore further opportunities.

Abbas Abdolkhani, commercial attaché at Iranian Embassy said, 'The value of trade exchange [between Iran and Oman] has increased by 35 per cent from US$135mn to US$1bn. We expect the trade to grow more.'

Omanexpo hopes that this exhibition could be an ideal platform for trade exchange between the sultanate and Iran and would provide SME owners with opportunities to expand their projects and strike new commercial deals.

Mohammed Toutounchi, chargé d'affaires of Iranian Embassy said, 'We are expecting many people to attend the exhibition. It will be an ideal opportunity for exhibitors to meet Omani businessmen and sign deals with them. Many Iranian brands are looking for agents in the sultanate.'
