Doha: Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have concluded a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance professional relations among civil society organisations and pursue joint social goals.
The pact was signed by Amal bint Abdullatif Al Mannai, CEO, QFSW, and Ali Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General, QRCS. During the ceremony, Al Hammadi welcomed the guests and highlighted their positive attitude in negotiating the agreement, which will add great value to humanitarian and social work.
'Both parties share the same goal of improving living standards in Qatar across the board, by mobilising community resources to help the vulnerable to overcome their difficulties and move forward, said Al Hammadi.
Emphasizing the great potential of mutual interest and joint action, he noted: 'Humanitarian and social work is a noble yet challenging endeavor that no single organization can undertake alone. So, concerted efforts and clear vision are key to achieving the desired results. We promise to be always there for our cause, and we are open to all innovative proposals that serve humanity everywhere.
Al Mannai stated: 'By signing this MoU, we look forward to working closely with QRCS towards our common objectives, as detailed in the international legislation and instruments concerned with human rights and social work.
'Through all our affiliate centers, we seek to build effective partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, and private enterprises in exchange of experience and information. Hopefully, this enables our subsidiaries to further develop and contribute to the society at large, she explained.
The three-year agreement establishes bilateral cooperation in exchange of experience and information in relation to social causes, psychosocial and legal advising for vulnerable households, collective effort in humanitarian advocacy, training of social workers and emergency psychological support specialists, community awareness and parenting, and sponsorship of social development projects.
A joint committee was formed to supervise the implementation and mechanisms of the agreement.
