New Delhi, Dec 10 (KNN) In a strategic move to support India's burgeoning technology start-up landscape, Flipkart has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
The partnership aims to empower and nurture innovative entrepreneurs across the country.
The collaboration builds upon Flipkart's existing Flipkart Leap and Ventures initiative, which includes a substantial USD 100 million fund dedicated to supporting promising start-ups.
To date, the e-commerce giant has already invested in 20 companies, demonstrating its commitment to identifying and fostering high-potential technological ventures.
Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, emphasised the significance of the partnership, stating that the MoU reflects a shared vision of empowering start-ups through strategic support, comprehensive resource access, and connections to global markets.
Under the terms of the agreement, participating start-ups will gain unprecedented access to valuable resources, including industry reports, research papers, government datasets, and other critical studies.
The collaboration will also expedite patent application processes, providing entrepreneurs with timely opportunities to protect and advance their innovations.
Sumeet Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that the collaboration aims to create a thriving environment for start-ups to scale new heights.
The Flipkart Ventures initiative will offer comprehensive support across various developmental stages, from prototype development to infrastructural assistance and international expansion insights.
The USD 100 million venture fund underscores Flipkart's long-term commitment to pioneering technological breakthroughs that have the potential to shape the future of business in India and beyond.
